Bible

The Bible is an ancient book of scripture that has been translated into multiple languages over time. It is considered scripture by those who practice Christianity and by others who may believe that some or all of it comes from God. The Bible is primarily divided into two sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament.

The Old Testament is the history and revelations received by the Jews who lived before Christ, and the New Testament is a record of the teachings of Christ when he was on the earth and the journeys of Christ’s apostles after his ascension into heaven What they both have in common is that they contain gospel doctrine and testify of Jesus Christ as the savior of the world. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints read from the King James Version of the Bible and consider it to be holy doctrine worthy of study. Church members believe that studying scripture brings us closer to God and can help us receive revelation from Him. However, they also believe that throughout the years and over many translations, some errors have occurred in transcribing this book of scripture. This is why members of the Church read the Bible in conjunction with the Book of Mormon. Together, both books offer witness that Christ is the savior and that his atoning sacrifice makes it possible for us to return to live with God again.
