Stephen J. Bahr received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University and his PhD from Washington State University. Previously he taught at the University of Texas at Austin, and for one year he was a professional fellow at the Bush Institute for Child and Family Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He was a professor of sociology and an associate dean in the College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences at BYU. His research and teaching interests included prisoner reentry, adolescent drug use, and divorce and remarriage.
Stephen is married to Carol Martinez.
