Michael S. Drake is a certified accountant and the K. Fred Skousen Professor of Accounting at the BYU Marriott School of Business. Dr. Drake earned bachelors and masters degrees from Brigham Young University and a doctorate in accounting from Texas A&M.
He began his career as an auditor for Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young before joining the faculty at Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University. In 2011, he became a professor of accounting at BYU. Dr. Drake’s research focuses on how financial information impacts capital markets, and it has been published in a variety of distinguished journals such as the Journal of Accounting Research, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Accounting Review, and Management Science.
Dr. Drake has received many awards including FARS Best Paper Award (2019), Accounting Horizons Best Paper Award (2018), and he is the two-time winner of the MBA Core Professor of the Year for the BYU Marriott School of Business (2017&2018). Dr. Drake is married to McKenzie Drake, and they have five children.
