Melissa P. Larson is a teaching professor in the School of Accountancy at BYU Marriott School of Business. She graduated from BYU with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting, started her career in public accounting, and obtained her CPA license. In 2001, Melissa began teaching accounting classes at BYU. She has taught various undergraduate and graduate accounting courses since then. Passionate about inspiring students to engage in the learning process, she pursued a doctoral degree from BYU in instructional psychology and technology. Her research interests include interventions to enhance student success in the classroom. In 2021 she received the Karl G. Maeser Professional Faculty Excellence Award.
As an advocate for her students, Melissa has continually and creatively worked to develop better ways to teach, encourage, and mentor students, particularly “first-generation college students and those struggling under traditional course and testing parameters.”
Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, reading, and traveling. She and her husband, Greg Larson, have four children and a daughter-in-law.
