Dr. Lynnette B. Erickson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Brigham Young University. Post graduation she taught elementary school in Payson, Utah, and Gilbert, Arizona, before being called to serve in the Montana Billings Mission.
After teaching a year post mission, she returned to BYU to earn a master’s degree in teaching and learning. She taught at BYU for nearly five years after earning her master’s degree, and her experiences preparing teacher candidates helped her discover that teacher education was her passion. She then took a break and went to Arizona State University, where she earned a PhD in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in elementary social studies.
Dr. Erickson’s professional interests focus generally on issues of teacher education and more specifically on the purposes of education, schooling, and social studies. She is currently involved in collaborative studies focused on democratic practices and behaviors of teachers and students in the public schools.
