Joseph D. Parry, born and raised in Sandy, Utah, is an associate professor in the Department of Humanities, Classics, and Comparative Literature. He currently directs the Honors Program. He has general oversight of program activities and development, gives final approval to all Honors Thesis proposals, and consults with the Undergraduate Education Council, Alcuin Fellows, and deans and department chairs across campus on program direction and policy. Brother Parry teaches the Honors Introductory course (HONRS 120) Fall and Winter and other Honors core courses as occasion permits.
Brother Parry is a proud graduate of both of Utah’s premier universities—he received a BA and MA in English from BYU and a PhD in British and American literature from the University of Utah. Brother Parry specializes in medieval and renaissance studies with an additional interest in the relationship of visual art and phenomenology. He also welcomes the chance to teach introductory and GE courses, having a particular fondness for his department’s civilization courses.
