Gus L. Hart is a professor of physics and astronomy. He earned bachelor’s degrees in physics and Japanese from BYU in 1994. He then earned a doctorate in condensed matter physics from the University of California, Davis in 1999, after which he worked as a researcher in the Solid State Theory Group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Hart was an assistant professor at Northern Arizona University. He has worked as a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at BYU since 2006, specializing in computation materials science, algorithms, and high-throughput modeling.
Dr. Hart and his wife, Cynthia, have five children and two grandchildren. He enjoys playing handball.
