Dee F. Anderson, also known as Utah’s “Hamburger King,” was a prominent businessman and the founder of Dee’s Hamburger Drive-ins and Dee’s Family Restaurants. He was founder and president of the Utah Restaurant Association and was inducted into the Restaurant Hall of Fame.
Anderson attended Snow College and worked as a dental technician before starting his own concession stand. He first opened his restaurant in 1932 in Salt Lake City. The Dee’s franchise rapidly grew and branched as far as Johannesburg, South Africa. He was a major donor to LDS Hospital, Primary Children’s Hospital, and Snow College.
Anderson passed away at his California home in 1997 at the age of 91.
