Danielle Allen, Professor, Harvard
Dr. Danielle Allen is a distinguished political philosopher, scholar of public policy, and leading voice in democracy advocacy. She currently serves as the James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and also directs the Allen Lab for Democracy Renovation at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Center. With a career spanning academia, nonprofit leadership, and public service, Allen has been at the forefront of initiatives aimed at strengthening democracy, promoting civic education, and advancing social justice.
Allen has taught at various institutions and has held leadership roles in academia, including as president of a $60 million university division. She has also advocated for cannabis legalization, democracy reform, and civic engagement. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Danielle’s leadership played a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s response, culminating in the development of the first Roadmap to Pandemic Resilience.
Allen’s scholarly work delves into issues of justice, citizenship, and democracy.
