Daniel E. Johnson joined BYU’s Computer Science Department in 1983 after 18 years in industry, where he worked in various positions, including operations analyst and production planner with U.S. Steel, Geneva Works, and production supervisor and material control manager for Signetics Corporation.
As a Provo, Utah, native he has served on the planning commission and the board of adjustment and is presently the chair of the Provo Metropolitan Water Board. He served as the training NCO for a Utah National Guard combat engineering company during the Vietnam era.
Brother Johnson received a BA degree in human resource development from BYU. He has held many Church callings, including branch president at the Provo Missionary Training Center, bishop, high counselor, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and stake missionary and is presently an ordinance worker at the Provo Temple and Sunday School president.
He is married to Linda Payne, and they are the parents of six children and have several grandchildren.
