Christoffel Golden Jr.
of the Seventy
Christoffel Golden Jr. is an emeritus General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elder Golden was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Christoffel and Maria Golden. The missionaries came to his family’s house and introduced him to the Book of Mormon. He took a copy of it to a military training camp, where he gained a witness of its truth. Elder Golden was baptized shortly thereafter. In December 1981, he married Diane Norma Hulbert; they were sealed three days later in the London England Temple. They have four children: Rene, Christopher, Chanel, and Camilla.
Elder Golden earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and a postgraduate honors degree in international politics from the University of South Africa in Peoria. He worked in banking, pharmaceuticals, and marketing.
Elder Golden has served in many Church callings, including full-time missionary, bishop, and stake president. He was sustained as a General Authority Seventy on March 31, 2001. He has served in many capacities in Church leadership: President of the Africa Southeast Area, First and Second Counselor in the Africa West Area, Executive Director of the Priesthood and Family Department, and President of the Europe East Area. He was given emeritus status on October 1, 2022.
Elder Golden enjoys spending time with his family. Together they enjoy visiting local game and nature reserves and botanical gardens.
