Camille Fronk Olson is an emeritus professor and former chair of the Department of Ancient Scripture at Brigham Young University. She was born and raised in Tremonton, Utah, and served a full-time mission in Toulouse, France. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education, a master’s degree in Ancient Near Eastern studies, and a doctorate in sociology of the Middle East, all from BYU. In addition to teaching at BYU, she has also taught at the BYU Jerusalem Center of Near Eastern Studies.
Prior to Olson’s tenure at BYU, she taught seminary and institute for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Salt Lake City area and served as dean of students at LDS Business College (now known as Ensign College). She has also served on the Young Women General Board.
Olson has written several books centered on religious themes, with some of her most popular titles including “Women of the Old Testament” and “Mary, Martha, and Me.” Her scholarly research focuses on women in scripture, early Christianity, Church doctrine, and Palestinian families in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Camille Fronk Olson is married to Paul F. Olson, and they have two children.
