Brigham Russell Frandsen spoke as a representative of his graduating class at BYU commencement on August 12, 2004.
After graduating from BYU with a bachelor of science in economics, Frandsen earned his PhD in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2010. He worked as a consultant for McKinsey from 2004 to 2006. He was a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Health Policy Research at Harvard University from 2010 to 2012.
Dr. Frandsen was an assistant professor of economics at BYU from 2012 to 2023, when he became a professor of economics. His areas of expertise include labor economics, econometrics, health economics, and finance. He enjoys hiking and mountain biking with his wife, Christine, and their four children.
