Born in Los Angeles, Professor Arnold H. Green received his master’s degree from BYU and his PhD from UCLA. He has taught at the University of Miami, the American University in Cairo (AUC), and BYU. He and his family have lived overseas in France, Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt, and Jerusalem.
The author of four books and numerous articles, Professor Green has received two Fulbright and two SSRC grants and has received teaching awards at the AUC and at BYU, including the Alcuin Fellowship here at BYU. He has directed the Center for Arabic Studies at the AUC as well as the BYU Center for Near Eastern Studies in Jerusalem.
Arnold Green and his wife, Lanigene Handy Green, recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
