A. Elaine Bond
Dr. A. Elaine Bond earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Utah and her PhD from the University of San Diego. She joined the BYU faculty in 1991.
In 2000 Professor Bond was honored as a John A. Widtsoe Fellow for her research in women’s studies in Jordan, and she received a grant from the David M. Kennedy Center for Palestinian Refugees’ Health Concerns. She is corecipient of the 2001 Utah Campus Compact Service Recognition Award, and in 1992, 1994, and 1997 she received the College of Nursing Teacher of the Year Award.
Dr. Bond is author of numerous professional articles and co-editor of The Healer’s Art: 50 Stories for 50 Years, a collection of BYU alumni and students’ nursing experiences. She was keynote speaker at the first Trauma Nursing Conference in Taiwan and has presented at many other international, national, and regional conferences. She addressed the 2002 BYU Women’s Conference about her experience as a Red Cross Disaster Nurse at the Pentagon following 9/11.
Sister Bond has been a Doctrine and Covenants adjunct professor in Religious Education, Church organist, ward and stake Young Women president, ward and stake Relief Society board member, and Gospel Doctrine teacher.
