A. Brent Strong completed BS and PhD degrees in chemistry at the University of Utah and was hired as a research chemist by the DuPont Company to develop new plastic applications. After working on several new ventures, he left DuPont and worked for Hardie Irrigation Systems, a manufacturer of plastic drip irrigation products. There he was technical director and later president.
Dr. Strong’s work in plastics and composite materials and processing has been widely recognized within academics, professional societies, and industry. Dr. Strong has been president of the international Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering, the foremost composites society, and was recently named a fellow of that society. He is the author of six books and numerous technical articles on plastics and composites.
Dr. Strong and his wife, Margaret, are the parents of eight children.
